Welcome Message 2024
Greetings to all new Academic, Teaching and Administrative colleagues!
I would like to extend a warm welcome to each of you who are joining the HKBU community. I believe your contribution and fresh perspectives will enrich the University as we continue our unwavering dedication to excellence in education, research and knowledge transfer.
As one of Asia’s finest institutions of higher education, HKBU has been promoting transdisciplinary education and research in recent years, nurturing talents with a broad vision and the capability of mastering the future and taking up the reins of technology development. At the midpoint of the University’s 10-year institutional strategic plan journey last year, we introduced the new research cluster of “Humanities and Cultures”, aiming at further promoting transdisciplinary collaboration and research, and complementing the strengths of our three existing research clusters of Creative Media/Practice, Health and Drug Discovery, as well as Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
With regard to the transformative infrastructure projects at the University, the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity is expected to open in phases from Q3 this year. This Campus is intended to serve as a community hub for staff and students, seamlessly blending living and learning spaces by featuring residential colleges, learning and teaching as well as co-creation spaces. The upcoming launch of Hong Kong’s first Chinese Medicine Hospital in 2025 also showcases our dedication to support the community and the promotion of standardisation and internationalisation of Chinese medicine. I look forward to the University’s further contribution to public health with our expertise in Chinese medicine.
I am confident that each of you will play a unique and crucial role in shaping the future of HKBU and driving transformative changes. Guided by our values of care, collaboration, creativity and service, together we shall strive for excellence and create a positive impact on our community and beyond.
